iPad: Reaching New Heights

The iPad has officially reached a feat that no other Apple Product has been able to accomplish. The device has surpassed 2 million sales in Just Two Months. The iPod Took 2 years to reach this feat, and the iPhone a mere 4 months. But 2 months?!

According to Analysts, the iPad is expected to sell more than 5 million copies if it continues at this rate by the holiday season. "We appreciate [consumers'] patience and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone," Steve Jobs declared after getting word of this achievement. Jobs is very hopeful for the iPad, and there is speculation that large iPhone sales may cause the iPad to sell even more.

Even the elderly are using the iPad. One man, 66, after being interviewed when he bought his iPad, proclaimed: "The iPad is instant, needs no warm-up time and is really user-friendly." Clearly, the iPad is getting out to everyone. In the long run, one of the primary reasons iPads are being purchased is because of their low price tag, which people highlight more than Macintosh computer prices. Whatever the cause may be for this huge sale, Jobs says: "It's the netbook of the future, and Apple is leading the market." Someday, the iPad may even be bigger than the iPod. We will have to wait and see.

iPhone 4g Screen Resolution Confirmed

The next iPhone screen has been confirmed to be at running at a resolution of 960x640, according to SuperPhone.cz (via Engadget). This site claims that they have gotten a new iPhone, and have tested it under a microscope.

By doing this, they were able to count the RGB elements of the screen, they discovered it to be exactly twice as dense in the horizontal and vertical directions compared to the current iPhone. If this was true, it would quadruple the total number of pixels, and change the iPhone's resolution from the current 480x320 to 960x640. This would, in turn, make the density 320dpi -- higher than any other device on the market.

Rumors of this new phone resolution first came out in March. The good thing about doubling the resolution is that older apps with smaller resolution would easily be able to run on it as well. This resolution doubling is already present on the iPad.

Steve Jobs: "You Won't Be Disappointed".

The Email to the left was supposedly sent to Steve jobs asking: "I hope you have some good WWDC announcements to blow them out of the water!", which was referring to the google android team. In response, Steve Jobs said: "You Won't Be Dissappointed". Is he referring to the iPhone 4g? We'll have to see on June 7th.

iPhone Coming To Sprint Before Verizon?

According To Macrumors, multiple sources have explained that the iPhone will be coming to Sprint Before Verizon.

The first possibility came from James Kendrick of jkontherun earlier this month. According to Macrumors, he did not believe this, but explained it as being plausable:
"In the "totally unlikely to come true" department, yesterday I was told that Sprint will be getting the iPhone this summer. You heard that right, while rumors have long pointed to Big Red getting the iPhone this year, never has it been mentioned that Sprint would be selling the iPhone. I can't believe this is true, although the source has been reliable in the past and does work for Sprint." He also explained that a source connected to the Sprint company explained that it was coming to their services. According to this source, it would be coming in September-- the same time as the Verizon iPhone.

Moreover, a Techupdate post explains that a BestBuy employee "confirms" the iPhone will be going to Sprint. However, this is the most unreliable source. Best buy employees aren't usually reliable when it comes to Apple products, and if this were true, more than one source would have heard about it.

Sprint has been dying lately, and when the C.E.O. was asked about it, he said that they would love to have it, but did not confirm them getting it.

We will just have to wait and see what happens. If apple releases their device to  all carriers, they will clearly have a monopoly on the phone market, so this does seem plausible. Stay tuned for more news.

Video Conferencing Settings Discovered in iPhone Settings App

According to Boy Genius Report, To the left as well as below, you can see screenshots that were discovered in a settings app of one of the iPhones. The exact model and time and place that this was found is unknown, so it is unclear if this is the real thing. Perhaps this reveals word of things to come? Stay tuned for more updates.

More Pictures of White iPhone 4g Leaked

New Pictures have surfaced of a white iPhone 4g once again, this time focusing on the front panel comparing it to the iPhone 4g Black Prototype that was found. Specific features to notice are the white home button, and the fact that the home button is recessed on the white one. This could be due to the fact that a white panel was just placed on top of the device to show what it would look like. Another feature to notice is once again, the video camera facing the front, which can clearly be seen on the white model. This brings the idea of video conferencing into play. Stay tuned for more info on these devices.

Has ATT confirmed the New Verizon iPhone?

Recently, ATT has raised the price of their Early Termination Fee (ETF), or the fee that is paid when one cancels their phone contract, from $175 to $325. This is a very significant jump, and possibly because they want to retain as many customers as possible from leaving their service for some unknown reason...possibly the Verizon iPhone? If this is true, that means that the iPhone would be going to other carriers like Verizon much, much earlier than expected--2010 rather than 2012. We will just have to wait and see. Stay tuned to my youtube (www.youtube.com/DangleKingPC) and My RSS Feed/Blog (http://feeds.feedburner.com/Danglekingpc) for updates on this topic. Thanks for visiting. Check out the Video Below!

Top 10 Reasons to Jailbreak iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad

A very popular issue that many people throw around in their head from time to time is whether or not they should jailbreak their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. This little article will tell you the top 10 reasons to jailbreak your Device.

10. Theming and Customization
As you can see in the picture below, Jailbreaking your device allows you to customize any aspect of your device from unlock sounds, to icon style, to wallpaper on the springboard. Apple would never allow this, so this is one very popular reason to jailbreak.
9. SMS APPS
The standard sms app for the iPhone is lacking. You cannot send quick replies, and you must exit your current app for it to function at all. Also, it is quite expensive. If you jailbreak, you can get a "quick reply" and respond to SMS in the current app you have open, and you can also send free SMS with some apps from the jailbroken community. It is highly worth it. Another reason to jailbreak.
8. Video Recording and Multiple Photos at Once, Camera
In the iPhone 3gs, Apple implemented the idea of video recording into the camera. However, on the first and second generation iPhone this is not possible-until now.  With the Cycorder App from Cydia, one can record video on a jailbroken device, as well as take multiple photos at once with an app called Snapture. Two more reasons to jailbreak.
7. Application Launchers
Even though Apple implemented Spotlight search into the OS, there are still many others that are not included on the Device, and never will be because they are OS enhancements, which goes against apple's code for the app store. Many of these act similar to apps like Quicksilver for mac, another reason to jailbreak.
6. Cydia and Jailbreak Apps
Apple rejects many apps from the App Store from time to time. By having Cydia installed, you can download all of these rejected apps for yourself, FREE. Also, you can download apps that will never make it to the appstore, another reason to jailbreak.
5. Terminal
If jailbroken, you can use terminal on your device and execute commands as if it were a computer! Pretty cool, and another reason to jailbreak.
4. Unlocking
Clearly, if you are planning on unlocking your Device, the only way to do so is by Jailbreaking.
3. Turn by Turn GPS
In the Operating System, if jailbroken, you can download Turn By Turn GPS for your device, which is not available as of yet.
2. Categories
If jailbroken, you can order icons into folders, similar to iPhone OS 4.0. This is very cool, and allows installation of many more apps on your device. Another cool reason to jailbreak.
1. Multitasking without 4.0
Especially big on the iPad, if you are jailbroken, you can download apps known as "Backgrounder", "Proswitcher", and "Circuitous", to multitask on your device without firmware 4.0. This is very handy and useful, and a screenshot can be seen to the left, just another reason to jailbreak.

Overall, these are ten reasons to jailbreak. The benefits outweigh the possibility of bricking your device, as you can always restore. If you have questions, leave them as a comment on this post, subscribe to my RSS Feed Above, and Subscribe to my Youtube Above for future news. Thanks.

iPod Touch Prototype with Camera?!

Recently, there has been much news about the iPhone 4g prototypes that have been floating around, and these are very likely to be released this summer. Recently, an iPod Touch Prototype has appeared as well. This new prototype was discovered by the company Tinhte, and all credit goes to them for finding this. The new iPod Touch is said to have a camera, as well as 64 gb memory and other features such as a longer lasting battery. This could possibly be released this fall, which is when Apple usually does their iPod refreshes. At the moment, the iPod is only running some sort of preliminary Operating System, so its true capabilities can not be seen, but you can clearly see that it does have a working camera in the following pictures and video. Thanks for visiting, and visit back soon for any updates on this device. Hopefully we will see it this summer.

Mac vs. PC Series 1

A long standing debate that has been going on for a while now is the idea of the Mac vs. the PC. I personally own both types of computers and I wanted to offer a little insight as to my thoughts on this topic.

First off, the Apple Macintosh. Many Apple Fanboys will claim "Oh I use a mac because they are just better, faster, and more reliable". While I myself do believe that a portion of this is true, there are other reasons why people do buy macs. I personally bought mine because I was looking for a change from a pc, and so far, I have found it incredible. It is so much faster than my old pc, and I have never had any problems with it. This being said however, my old pc did only have 1.6 ghz processor, and 512 ram, so any pc would be faster than it.

What about the PC? My pc was also very reliable, and I loved using it. When it came to customization and gaming, I could count on my pc to always be there for me and never have any issues with either one of these topics. However, I did have to repair it from viruses every once and a while. However, My PC did run as fast or faster than a macintosh, and I really did like the fact that I could basically buy two of them for the price of one mac.

So which one is truly better? I think it depends on your personal needs as a technology user. If you are into everyday tasks, such as browsing the web, using iTunes, and writing documents, I think that a mac would be the way to go. They are better at almost everything except gaming. However, if you want to game, or you need something that has any program known to man, I would go with a pc. Also, if you want to switch up your design of your computer, use a PC. I have built PC's that look way cooler than my Mac.

This was part one of this series guys. Visit back for part 2.

White MacBook Update: Geforce 320M Graphics!

The White MacBook was updated on Apple.com today silently, and it now sports a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, Nvidia Geforce 320M Graphics, 2 GB Ram, 250gb HD, and all the other features remained the same. However, the new MacBook is also said to have 10 hours of battery life while maintaining this new hardware that is now included. This new updated machine is available starting today in apple stores and online. What will we see next? Maybe a MacBook Air update? We will see.

IPhone vs. Android

Being that my phone contract is about to expire, I am really split between the droid and iPhone operating system. Hopefully the iPhone comes to verison eventually, but the droid has so much more customization and just as many apps, so it is hard to decide. What do you guys think? Leave a comment below.

Att has the iPhone until 2010?

According to appleinsider.com, recent news has suggested that the Att has a hold on the iPhone until 2012, which kills all ideas of a verizon iphone in 2010 and 2011, as well as a version for other characters. The news reported that back in 2007 when Att and Apple made their contract that the deal stated the iPhone was to stay with Att until 2012, although the popular assumption is that Apple will break away from this company and open up its platform to all carriers, such as verizon wireless. However, since the iPad has launched, it seems that Apple may still be sticking with Att. We will have to wait until the summer 2010 to see what officially launches, and perhaps it will be a pleasant surprise.

A4 Microprocessor in iPhone 4g?!?!

From Engadget.com: "See the marking on that chip with the Apple logo. No, not the "N90" codename indicating that it's from Apple's next generation GSM iPhone, the other text. If we're not mistaken then we're seeing "339S0084" on that chip from today's fourth-generation iPhone teardown. Guess what? According to Chipworks, that's the Apple A4 microprocessor fabricated by Samsung and the presumed work of Apple's acquired PA Semi and Intrinsity engineers. The "APL0398" text is also the same as that found on the iPad's speedy and power sipping A4 system-on-chip. The other markings differ however. What that means isn't entirely clear yet but we're digging."

This new processor is the same one that is located in the iPad. Will the new iPhone be as good as the iPad? We will just have to wait and see. This is a very pleasant surprise!

Steve Job's Thoughts on Flash

Recently, On apple.com, Steve Jobs publicly released a letter on his own personal thoughts to the questions: "Why don't the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch have Adobe's Flash?" Steve responded with a few answers, and at this point, it seems as though these devices will never get flash media.

Steve's First Reason was that he wants to keep the iPhone "Open". What he means by this is that Apple created the iPhone Operating System by using webkit technology in which everything was controlled by one's fingertips, and webpages load with incredible speed. He Believes that Adobe's Flash would slow this down a great deal, and he wants to keep the iPhone OS open to only the fastest web platform, which he believes is webkit, not flash.

Steve moved on in his letter to address the "Full Web" argument. People have complained that almost all web pages contain flash and people cannot play these flash games and videos on their devices. However, Steve said that Youtube is compatible, which is 40% of video on the web, and the App Store is growing everyday with millions of games to play, so no one should be upset.

His last few arguments dealt with system performance, reliability, security, battery life, and touch. By using flash, the system would lag, be less usable, freeze up, and the battery life would drain more quickly. Also, Steve believes that people cannot touch the flash content as well as webkit/html items, and by allowing Adobe to use this, there may be more viruses floating around on apple devices. Flash content allows for this, and he wants none of it.

Lastly, Steve said his most important reason for not allowing flash on the iPhone is that he doesn't want to have to rely on third party developers outside of Apple. When Apple needs to update its OS or its system, all they have to do is release an update via iTunes to download and install on a device. When apps need updating, all one needs to do is open up the iTunes Application Store, and viola! you've updated. If Flash were to be allowed, one would have to rely on Adobe to release the update, therefore slowing the time in which the update is released, and also opening up the possibility of a security threat, as Adobe may not have fully checked the update. Steve wants to keep the safest, quickest, and most innovative way of enjoying the device you want when you want it, so he will not allow flash. "Flash was created for mice and clicking" he says, "Not for the use of a finger".

Free iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch App Store Apps!

Hey Guys, This is my guide to Getting free iTunes App Store Apps via a jailbroken iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. I could not post this as a video on Youtube as I would get into too much trouble with Copyright issues. To do this all you need to do is follow a few simple steps.

1. Add the Repo to Cydia (Open Cydia, Manage, Sources, Edit, Add):  cydia.hackulo.us
2. Once it refreshes, Download "Installous".
3. Once Downloaded, Exit Cydia, and Open Installous. (My current Installous photo is to the right).
4. Once This is done, just search for the app you want as if you were in the app store, and download it from the site that you choose. Once downloaded, Go to the downloads tab and click it to install. Then Exit the app, and you will have the app on your home screen!

Hopefully you enjoyed this post! If it helped you out, please subscribe to my youtube channel (link below). I would greatly appreciate it! Again, thank you, and enjoy all of your apps!
